Custom WordPress Development
WordPress Development
Once design mockups have been approved we begin phase 2 of our professional web design services guided by user experience web design principles – the development of your custom WordPress theme. This involves building out the back end and content management system to meet the specific needs of your business, followed by the front end where we finalize the website’s look and feel. Finally, we integrate the systems necessary for the operation of your site and your business online, which may include CRM, email marketing, marketing automation, external databases, and more.
Quality Assurance
We always test the display and functionality of your website across the most common browsers, mobile devices, and desktop resolutions. Your team and key stakeholders will also be able to test the website via a demo version, which is accessible via your own computers and devices. While this demo site is more or less a finished product, we’ll provide two further rounds of bug fixes to take care of anything that might not work properly. Lastly page speed testing is performed to ensure fast load times. Our general standard is 2 seconds or faster for optimal user experience.
Site Launch
Before your site is launched into the wild, we offer a screen share training session to your team to instruct on how to manage content in the WordPress CMS, perform basic SEO, and make edits to menus, forms, pages, and meta descriptions. For future reference, you’ll also have access to a library of 50+ training videos that cover the operation and functionality of the back end of your site. Following training and uploading of all unique content we’ll schedule a date for site launch. This process covers 15 standardized checkpoints for launch-critical tasks, including SSL install and configuration, placement of 301 redirects from your old site, sitemap submission via Google Search Console, Google Analytics setup, and more.
Maintenance
Once your website is live our focus shifts to website security. WordPress is the most popular CMS in the world and powers 34% of all websites on the web! This high volume of usage makes an attractive target for hackers and malware attacks. On a monthly basis our development team will install the latest WordPress update (when applicable), tests plugins, and checks compatibility with your WordPress theme in a developer environment. This ensures that any potential conflicts and errors are dealt with before updates are pushed to production (live).
Daily backups are recorded for your website to allow us to rollback the site to full functionality if a member of your team accidentally breaks site functionality, or if the site falls victim to hacking.
Hosting is included free of charge and we use the best-in-class WordPress specific dedicated server to provide secure and reliable performance.

Custom WordPress themes from Sayenko Design offer significant advantages. Using your personalized marketing strategy as the foundation, we build your website theme from the ground up.
Why WordPress
At Sayenko Design we’ve long realized the benefits of WordPress for web development. That’s why in 2009 we made the decision to specialize in the platform exclusively. What separates WordPress from other web development solutions is its streamlined and modular system that runs on ‘themes’. Our design development team has proven expertise in crafting custom WordPress themes for all types of businesses and organizations.Â
Speed
A slow website not only discourages visitors from exploring, it also is a negative ranking factor for Google and other search engine algorithms.
One of the most common reasons for slowdowns in WordPress performance is excessive and overlapping code, also known as ‘bloat’. This can be caused by multiple layers of WordPress plugins, and lack of optimization in the backend of the theme. On each project we look to streamline plugins and reduce coding to ensure fast site speeds and quick page load times.
Plugin Management
With thousands of third party plugins available for WordPress, it can be difficult to know which collection of plugins to install on your site.
We always have our ear to the ground for the latest plugins available, and have a preferred suite of plugins we use when building custom WordPress themes. Let us take care of the sometimes confusing process of managing plugin updates and functionality overlap.
Security
As the most popular content management system on the Internet, WordPress is often a target for spam, hacks, and security breaches.
When partnering with Sayenko Design, you can rest assured that we will always have the latest updates to WordPress in place to combat security risks. We also manage hosting directly and can work with your company to properly protect the sensitive customer and business data that passes through your website.
Customization and Responsive Design
Nearly all WordPress themes these days are mobile-friendly and responsive. However, this doesn’t mean they are all properly optimized.
Hate visiting a website on your phone and seeing elements overlap or improperly displayed? We provide testing for each major device type and browser to ensure your well crafted web pages are showing as they are intended to. We’ll work with your team to customize your design to meet your unique brand standards and color palette, while incorporating the latest web design trends and interactive elements/features.
SEO & Digital Strategy
We believe that web development should always be tailored to the unique persona of our client and their customers.
Our team will work in a collaborative process with you to ensure we fully understand your business, and your customer demographic, before the first line of code is written. We offer digital strategy services that works to connect customer personas to specific elements of your website, provide quantifiable conversion goals for analytics, and map keywords to site architecture and metadata.
Agile Methodology
Sayenko Design employs the Agile development model for our web development projects, which places an emphasis on creating working software iterations, maximizing transparency and maintaining high levels of interaction between all parties involved. Agile processes allow us to quickly respond to change ensuring we are consistently on course.

Effective Communication in the 21st Century – Social Media
In the past 10 years, we have witnessed a communication revolution. In a recent blog post on Flip the Media, Hanson Hosein, Director of the Master’s of Communication in Digital Media (MCDM) program at the University of Washington did a great job of summarizing this change: "Effective communication in the 21st century requires us to build relationships by telling our story and providing value-added content to online community platforms, quite often with inexpensive, amateur content creation and distribution tools. This approach reflects current economic and budgetary realities, as well as a need to engage people with entrepreneurial zeal."
